October, 2010 – Koh Tao's Second Film Festival
In late September the Save Koh Tao Community group hosted its second Film Festival at the local cinema. It was a hugely successful evening and Eco Koh Tao had a hand in two of the films that came in second, third and affiliate partner Deep Down Productions came in fourth place.
The first of our entries was produced by Eco Koh Tao regular Simon Dowling with a script written by Eco Koh Tao’s manage Nathan Cook. The film Cause and Effect was developed over the course of the year with the aim to capture the changes to our fragile ecosystem through the global warming induced effects of coral bleaching. It was a medium term project with a fantastic outcome.
Our second film was produced by Jenny Dowling entitle Restoration. This short documentary’s aim was to capture the development and deployment of coral nurseries that were constructed throughout the island in September 2010. For only her second edit it was a fantastic result.
