In September this year the Save Koh Tao Group will host the second of their film festivals for Koh Tao this year. The forum has been designed to allow people the opportunity to showcase not only their filmmaking skills but also to highlight the environmental movement on Koh Tao.
This year the crew from Eco Koh Tao, led by MSDT Simon Dowling have spent the last few months cataloguing and capturing the immense changes that have taken place in this very hot year. Coral bleaching has played havoc with our reefs and for this years 2nd film festival we hope to put together a short documentary to showcase this unique event.
Simon along with filmmaking protégé MSDT Debbie Gottdenker joined local environmentalist IDCS Nathan Cook to capture the latest instalment. At the moment many corals are in a state of recovery but sadly a number of them have suffered greatly from the heat-induced stress. |
