ECO KOH TAO'S MISSION STATEMENT

Koh Tao is an idyllic paradise providing stunning natural scenery both above & below the water. We will work to make its future a bright one where the environment is preserved and thrives alongside the growing economic development.

Our aim at Eco Koh Tao is to influence the environmental policies and practices of all stakeholders on Koh Tao.

We aim to provide a positive influence in Koh Tao's future development through three main avenues...

1. Education

Using public domains to raise awareness regarding environmental issues we hope all visitors are informed on efforts we are making to preserve the environment and how they can be a part of the solution.

Through interactive, in depth and informative educational programs we hope to educate people, especially divers to the importance of local ecosystems highlighting potential problems and possible solutions.

2. Action

By being involved in a number of programs we aim to actively participate in the preservation and restoration of the local environment.

  • Some examples include:
  • Regular marine surveys
  • Marine life sighting databases
  • Coral nurseries and other coral research activites
  • Giant clam rehabilitation program
  • Turtle release program
  • Tree planting and hillside rehabilitation
  • Waste water management
  • Mooring buoy design & establishment.

3. Research

Undertake research into ecological issues to provide information as the nature of our changing environment and develop solutions to its future preservation.
