“Identifying problems
and developing solutions”

Taking a new approach to the preservation and management of marine resources, Eco Koh Tao is leading the way in Environmental education and awareness.

With Koh Tao’s increasing popularity as a destination for both divers and non-divers alike a change of attitude toward the approach we take to our marine resources is essential for its long-term survival. Working together with our primary dive training partner, Crystal Dive, and community organization Save Koh Tao we are targeting all levels to educate and empower people, identifying problems and developing solutions.

Education includes intensive programs on Marine Resource Management, Project Aware specialty courses and the Reef Check Ecodiver course. Training enables individuals and groups to take an informed approach to and an active role in reef preservation.

Conservation programs include research on and development of reef restorations techniques including Biorock™, coral nurseries, artificial reefs, monthly beach and dive site clean ups & regular reef monitoring through our Reef Check Ecological Monitoring Program (EMP).

Realising and accepting the interconnectedness of all life we are teaming up with local businesses and other stakeholders to improve practices on land also. Improving wastewater management and encouraging more efficient, less wasteful packaging techniques island wide.

Slowly, little by little we are helping to be an integral part of the solution for Koh Tao’s long-term health and prosperity. If you would like to learn how to develop an integrated approach to resource management and ecosystem preservation, if you would like to become part of the solution keep reading to find out how YOU can make a difference.
